Hydrex Drone Division delivers the next generation of mapping with an expanded fleet that includes the Sensefly eBee X RTK fixed-wing and the Phantom 4 RTK drones. This new technology requires fewer ground control points and produces real-time survey-grade positioning, resulting in imagery and 3D data, accurate to within centimeters. This technology changes the playing field for construction, manufacturing, aggregate production operations, and other industries needing precise volume calculation, terrain modeling, and progress monitoring.
Hydrex Drone Division operators rely on Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) positioning to make immediate corrections to the drone’s position during data collection. RTK uses a mobile base station positioned on-site to relay live corrections throughout the flight. This reduces the need for establishing ground control targets across the site. The resulting positioning information is accurate to within 2 centimeters – a range smaller than a quarter – and allows for highly accurate datasets within 5 centimeters.
Post-Processed Kinematic (PPK) positioning achieves this accuracy by making corrections AFTER data collection. This process requires the download of additional data from a base station, such as from the Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) network, for corrections. Hydrex Drone Division utilizes both processes, which gives us the versatility to achieve the level of accuracy and time constraint dictated by each project's requirements.
