Jones from the Gallup Poll indicates that Americans in later April, 2020 are as likely to say the coronavirus situation in the U.S. is getting better (41%) as to say it's getting worse (39%). Just 10 days prior, they were far more likely to say it was getting worse. The latest results are based on April 17-19 Gallup Panel interviewing. After a big decline over the weekend of April 10-12 in the percentage saying the situation was getting worse, opinions moved modestly more in that direction early last week before stabilizing over the weekend.

Widespread stay-at-home orders and social distancing practices have helped to "flatten the curve" of U.S. coronavirus cases. Still, more cases are reported each day. State and federal public health officials and political leaders are now contemplating how to ease those restrictions on daily life without leading to a second surge in COVID-19 cases.
Opinions on the coronavirus situation differ sharply by political party identification, even as all groups have trended toward saying the situation is getting better rather than worse. Currently, 69% of Republicans say the situation is getting better, while just 13% say it is getting worse. By contrast, a majority of Democrats, 59%, think the situation is getting worse -- although that is down from 79% earlier this month. Independents are evenly divided on the coronavirus situation. A little more than a week ago, they were nearly three times more likely to say it was getting worse than getting better.
[NOTE by I2M Web Portal Editors: In spite of the medical data that show the community infections are still widespread, many people representing the Republican class are refusing to practice stay-at-home (high-risk people) and/or mask and social-distancing guidance by some state and local officials and by all medical personnel. This is another indication that such Republicans must be incredibly stupid (not ignorant), greedy, and infected by an even more infectious meme (a virus in the mind) than the Coronavirus that drives them to endanger society in this way. They don't seem to realize that they are only killing members of their own class, as well as disproportionately the poor and older people. And yes, we do need to get back to work, but we also must follow the guidelines put out by medical professionals, and ignore what Republican politicians say, because their motivations are usually self-serving. Watch the pandemic numbers! Remember, we now know that about 60% of those people who tested positive for coronavirus were asymptomatic, meaning that they have no symptoms, but are actively spreading the virus by touching and breathing on other people, hence the need for masks and social distancing by say at least 10 feet.
Unless they dump both viruses soon, the history books of the future will not be kind to the Republican class for: a) allowing and promoting Trump to come into our political lives, b) for not removing him during the Impeachment trial, and now c) for his allowing the pandemic to get out of control in the first place, while continuing to mismanage the federal efforts to assist the states for purposes of his own self interest and of those of his corrupt Republican friends. This also could have been predicted in late 2018, but the worst was never anticipated: http://www.i2mconsultants.com/downloads/corp/TheRussiansareComingRevised.pdf ]
