We humans are in a challenging and stressful situation for right now, this 25th day of March, 2020. As we continue to learn, understand and develop strategies to ensure optimal health and well-being for our community, or if sick and under the grip of this nasty "bug", we are likely feeling anxious and stressed about the COVID-19 outbreak. Please know that you are not alone – members of the community, grandparents, parents, children, and students are experiencing higher than normal stress and anxiety levels right now as we approach the first peak of the widespread infection rate of the virus. Just over 100 years ago, the so-called Spanish Flu Pandemic produced three peaks as the curves flattened because many people became impatient with social distancing procedures and other precautions.

Dr. Bernadette Mazurek Melnyk has developed several anxiety-reducing strategies to use when talking to your children about COVID-19 and evidence-based strategies to help manage and prevent the spread of this infectious viral disease. Please watch her webinar: Key Strategies for Relieving Anxiety During the COVID-19 Pandemic and use the links below to read more about these strategies.

[NOTE: Now that we are isolated, now is the time to read those papers, books, and to organize your library.]
