Resource thumbnail When new construction or changes to existing structures are taking place, it is common for people involved with the process to experience new hazards or risks not previously known to the original designers. That is why it is important to incorporate your safety and health management system standards from the very beginning of any engineering or construction project. If you know or discover any safety and health issues that may result, these should always be considered as part of your early planning. Action steps should then be developed and implemented. CORESafety Module 19 includes: 1. Designing, procuring, constructing and commissioning new mines, facilities and modifications to existing facilities to promote good safety and health performance throughout the operational life of the facility. 2. Integrating the hierarchy of controls and good design principles that minimize risks for new mines, facilities or modifications to the lowest level that is reasonably achievable. See video.
