Remediapedia aims to be the go-to website for environmental restoration information. US environmental programs (e.g. the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) and Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) fund cutting-edge environmental projects. Here, articles are written by invited experts (see Contributors), edited by leaders in this field, and aim to introduce and summarize current knowledge to environmental project professionals on topics using cross-linked references to reports and technical literature. The library archives summarize and make accessible additional resources relevant to all environmental professionals. Remediation technologies include both traditional remediation approaches and emerging technologies.

Common technologies employ a range of abiotic chemical treatments, biologically based remediation, and thermal approaches. Also included in this category are technologies for extracting contaminants from the subsurface and delivering treatment amendments. Long-term monitoring (LTM) is a major component of contaminant site management. Topics covered include LTM using traditional monitoring approaches as well and no-purge or passive sampling technologies. Site characterization and assessment covers covers traditional and emerging technologies for assessing the rate and extent of contaminant degradation, spatial and temporal distribution of contaminants, and formation properties that influence contaminant migration.

Monitored Natural attenuation (MNA) is a management approach that relies on naturally occurring physical, chemical, and or biological processes to reduce the load, concentration, flux or toxicity of polluting substances in groundwater. Soil and Groundwater contaminant provide general background on the transport, fate and behavior of different materials including chlorinated solvents, petroleum hydrocarbons, metals and metaloids, and emerging contaminants.
