CORESafety Module 6 focuses on Emergency Management. In the mining industry, emergency response is carefully orchestrated. There is a long history of mine rescue teams who are extensively trained first responders that get sent into mines to rescue workers in trouble. Emergency Planning and Response is an essential part of ensuring safety and health at a mining operation and is, therefore, a key component of CORESafety. Each company and worksite has to be prepared for a circumstance that requires an emergency response. Planning in advance for crisis situations is critical. Being prepared to respond to an emergency means knowing how to handle details that go beyond your ordinary, daily activities. Dealing with families, communicating with the media, updating government officials, these are examples of what you may be required to handle with no notice, so it is imperative to be prepared.
