Resource thumbnail The NEI semi-annual public opinion survey found that favorable attitudes towards nuclear continue to be strong, but its low-carbon benefits are not widely recognized. The poll was conducted Aug. 30 to Sept. 16, 2015 by Bisconti Research, Inc. and Quest Global Research, and was commissioned by NEI as part of its ongoing public opinion tracking. The poll found that: 1. 73% associate nuclear energy with clean air (44% associate it a lot with clean air). 2. 83% agree we should take advantage of all low-carbon energy sources, including nuclear, hydro-electric (dams), and renewable energy, where economic. 3. 70% did not know nuclear is the largest source of low-carbon electricity today. Neighbors of nuclear power plants have favorable attitudes toward nuclear energy, more so than the general U.S. public ... 1. 83% of plant neighbors favor the use of nuclear energy, compared with 68% of the general public surveyed early in 2015. 2. Compared with the general public, twice as many plant neighbors strongly favor nuclear energy ... 50% compared with 27%. See recent Gallop Poll on Nuclear Power.
