Resource thumbnail Tran Thi Viet Nga writes in Groundwater Management in Asian Cities, Volume 2 of the series cSUR-UT Series - Library for Sustainable Urban Regeneration, pp. 273-299 that in the last decade, arsenic-related health problems have been revealed as a serious problem in terms of the number of people at risk and the degree of the adverse health effects. Since then, a large number of research studies and pilot projects have been implemented to find a solution to the arsenic problem. Some of them have been partially successful, but until now, there seems to be no ultimate solution that can be implemented for low-income households in developing countries. This chapter of the book summarizes the current status of the arsenic problem in drinking water, and presents a case study of Hanoi City, Vietnam.
