The bloggers in this article suggest that one of the biggest selling points for electric cars is that they are environmentally better than traditional automobiles. It is in the top 4 reasons why people choose them ... next to because they look cool, the technology is incredible, and or you do not have to pay for gas. While it is true that electric cars are, environmentally speaking, much better than traditional ones, there is still a much better option. When it comes to electric cars, their environmental impact is heavily dependent on the source (and cost) of the electricity that charges the car battery. In areas supplied with electricity produced by nuclear power, the low electricity price make sense. But, in places with high electricity prices (produced by solar, wind, and other renewables) and where they do not use clean energy (such as where they burn coal, natural gas, etc), electric cars are responsible for producing similar amounts of CO2 as regular cars, although the group does not provide any basis for their claim here or in the paragraph below. You know what form of transportation uses almost no CO2? That is right, bicycles!

Bikes use a very small amount of CO2 in their manufacture and use, according to a study by the European Cyclists Federation when compared to regular cars. In terms of the environment, bicycles are the much greener choice, assuming you live in a small community. In all 8 of the points presented by the group in this article, bikes win over electric cars. So just remember, electric cars are a good choice, but bikes are still the best option out there if you live in Denmark or Dime, Texas.
