A SeekingAlpha reporter has concluded that nuclear power offers significant long-term benefits, and he expects nuclear power plant use to increase significantly in the future. This should drive uranium market growth. Despite it being seen as mainly a dangerous source of radiation, uranium ore itself is not highly radioactive but it is essential for the modern world today. The ore is refined to produce pellets that when placed in bundles in a reactor become fissionable to produce heat for boiling water. Many countries, including the United States, generate a significant portion of their electricity from nuclear power.

The world energy demand is expected to increase rapidly by 2050. World energy demand is expected to represent roughly 4 billion barrels of oil per day by 2050, a significant amount by any standard. Crude oil, natural gas, and to a greater extent coal are all expected to see a decreasing share of the world energy production over the coming decades. Second, nuclear power is expected to see a significant growth in its share over the coming decades, replacing coal. By 2050 or before, the reporter suggests that the forecast energy from nuclear power will be almost as much as the forecast energy from natural gas, mostly at the expense of decreasing coal consumption.
