Resource thumbnail Dr. Conca reports that this very morning, Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz will testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee concerning the findings of the Department Quadrennial Energy Review. He alluded to the theme last night on MSNBC All In With Chris Hayes. The QER shows that the U.S. energy problems are largely rooted in our crumbling infrastructure - no surprise there. Dr. Conca says that we are not properly maintaining our old railroad structures, leaking pipelines, failing bridges, aging transmission lines and old refineries. America purposefully forgets that you have to pay for these things with something called taxes. It is what a functioning government is supposed to do. If we do not do this, we will have more oil pipeline ruptures like yesterday near Santa Barbara, more crude oil train wrecks like the dozens in the last several months, more gas explosions like happen very week, and more super transformers failing with not a few brown-outs.
