Jeb Handwerger blogs that the world seems to be warming back up to the use of nuclear energy. Japan was using 50-year-old reactors while China, India and Russia are building next generation nuclear reactors, which are much safer than the first generation dinosaurs of the past, the later reactors had an outstanding safety record, except for one disaster by the Soviet Union, and one overblown incident created by poor software and pandered by the movie, China Syndrome, which contributed grossly misleading information to the general public that set back nuclear power development by decades. Thanks also, Jane Fonda, for committing treasonous acts during the Vietnam War that further inflamed social conditions.

China and India believe that the upside from the clean energy from nuclear far outweighs the downside risks of sticking to dirty coal, said Jeb Handwerger, editor of GoldStockTrades.com. Japan will be restarting its nuclear reactor fleet. This month, a Japanese court postponed the planned restart of two nuclear reactors in western Japan because of unsubstantiated safety concerns among locals. But last week, uranium producer Cameco Corp. announced an agreement with India to provide 7.1 million pounds of uranium concentrate over the next 5 years. Shares of Canada-based Cameco have climbed roughly 14 per cent month to date. Going forward, the biggest gains in the market should be seen in the high-grade development projects in the Athabasca Basin in Canada, such as the ones operated by Denison Mines Corp. and Fission Uranium Corp. and the low-cost producers such as Ur-Energy Inc. and Uranerz Energy Corp. said Handwerger, who owns shares in Ur-Energy, Uranerz and Fission.
