Dr. Conca reports that this week, John Norris, a Commissioner of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, gave a speech on Preserving the U.S. Nuclear Fleet (FERC), in which he asked the industry to discuss the viability of the U.S. nuclear power fleet and how to ensure its contribution to our long-term energy needs.
Commissioner Norris, an Obama appointee, re-iterated the value of nuclear energy as the best form of energy for maintaining a carbon-free base load of electrical generation. As many of us think, he wants to continue the experiments on wind, solar and all forms of renewable energy, as well as maintain an increasing proportion of our electricity generation from nuclear power.
