In a Joint SIPES HGS luncheon meeting on July 19, 2007, M. Ray Thomasson made a presentation on global climate change and the likely causes for it. He concluded that:
1. Climate is changing, and it is warmer over the last 250 years,
2. Anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases are the most significant driver of climate change,
3. Natural processes are the most significant climate drivers,
4. Conserving energy and reducing all unnecessary emissions are important to sustainable environments and economies, and
5. We must do everything possible to plan for both a warmer and a colder future.
