Sanderson reported in mid-January 2025 that a Nordex wind turbine blade has broken at a 923 MW Acciona wind farm that the Spanish developer is building in Australia. The incident occurred late last month at the MacIntyre wind farm in the state of Queensland, according to local media.

The MacIntyre wind farm features 162 Nordex N163/5.X turbines.

Also, GE Vernova concludes the cause of the break of a turbine blade at the Vineyard Wind project in the US was related to a manufacturing issue, not design. The detached blade from the GE Haliade-X 13.7MW turbine has halted turbine operations at Vineyard, the first commercial-scale US offshore wind farm with a full capacity of 800 MW that is being developed by Avangrid – Iberdrola’s US subsidiary – along with partner CIP.
