The Division of Environmental Geosciences (of the AAPG) sponsored the Temperature Changes Through Time Forum at the 1999 national meeting. The Forum had two objectives. The first was to invite investigations outside of the oil & gas industry sponsorship (i.e., data and interpretations) from a wide variety of geologic specialties and universities that may offer evidence of past climate changes. The second goal was to seek methods or techniques that can be applied to the geologic record and have sufficient resolution to discriminate between normal temperature fluctuations and significant departures from them.
Abstracts for the nine presentations made at the Forum are presented here and demonstrate that the first objective was accomplished.
Other topics were discussed during the 1999 Conference, such as: CO2 SEQUESTRATION, ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS, AND OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL TOPICS, such as land subsidence, grouting monitoring wells, contamination of shallow aquifers, etc.
And finally, topics were discussed during the DEG sessions of the1999 Conference, such as related to the oil & gas industry, such as: DISTRIBUTED POWER IN THE OIL AND GAS PATCH, such as stranded gas, on-site elecric generation, fuel cells, power pricing, how the power grid operates and regulations.
